This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 48hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before and After #136".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!
Any edit, over-the-top creative or subtle, is encouraged!

This game will end on STuesday, December 2nd at 4:00pm EST

Continuing with Kids pics for Xmas theme

What a cute little girl. First i cloned out the distracting highlights in the background and cropped the top closer. In CS4, I lightened the whole photo in Levels and adjusted the blacks by 25%. I sharpened the photo in USM at 12-45-1 and added a Magic Powder filter to the skin by only 22%. Then I ran a pass of dodge tool over the face at 20%.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I didn't feel much needed to be done. Very cute subject to work with, so all adjustments were toned down to keep them very subtle:
1) Slightly sharpened eyes w/ USM 75,1,1 @ 50% opacity
2) Brightened smile slightly via color adjustment & layer mask
3) Copied layer & adjusted color & levels then applied slight GB @ 3 pixels (to soften background
4) Layer mask on background @ 50% opacity
5) Flattened image & applied levels adjustment to bump contrast slightly
6) Another color adjustment to correct the hue of the burgundy velvet dress & ribbon
7) Slight noise reduction
8. Vignette

Flipped the photo horizontally
Changed the background to look more "Christmas-y"
Used guassian blur on the background
Standard adjustments: levels, contrast, noise reduction, sharpening
Used the clone stamp around parts of her hair
Dodging and burning - eyes & hair
Got rid of some of the bright spots on her face by using the brush tool at a low opacity
Added border
