Offset some of the cost by selling your 20D and 17-85 -- it might help appease your wife if you know she's going to have an issue with you buying $3000 worth of new equipment.

well to help you out a little- if you're wanting the SanDisk Extreme III cards, get 3 from B&H. They're $30 a pop, but with buying 3, the rebate goes up to $70 in value. That gives you a final price $20 for 3, assuming you don't mind rebates

You definitely don't need 50D.

You could shoot less and not need as much space. 24 gigs - come on.

But yeah, the economy is in a bad shape...
