Should I recalibrate my Tamron 17-50 2.8?

I'm starting to notice that pictures are coming out a little soft. I've been testing a little my lens and it seems to be back focusing.

Should I just ignore it? Here some pics:

I think you need to take more controlled tests.

are these pics crops? how many times did you photograph the focus chart test? And the shot you uploaded is it the worst one or does it take shots like that all the time? I am reffering to the last shot.

Yes they are 100% crop.
It seems to be a constant problem when the lens is zooming in, it gets a little soft and it back focus.
But when it is zooming out it gets really soft.
I'll upload more test pictures later. I'm afraid to send it for recalibration just to return even worse.

I sent mine in as there was a hair sitting inside of the rear element - it came back with six tonne of dust so the shop moaned at the rep who replaced it with a brand new one which is fine - very very sharp, lovely colours.

Ok just to show how my tamron handels the focus chart test at 2.8 with very low light at 1/80, 1600 iso and with 3 diffrent zooms.

First one is at 17 mm
Middle one at 36 mm
Last one at 50 mm (Not so sharp cuz of shaky hands)

I just got this lens a week ago, and at 2.8 it is very sharp. But at 50 mm i think it loses some sharpnes but still it is good.

Based on your pics you should return the lens and get a new one or send it to tamron.

Just had the same issue with my Sigma 50mm. Solution.... 50D. Used the micro af adjustment and a chart like you guys are using and no more problems with back focus. Why don't more cameras come with af adjustment?? It's not rocket science and makes it a lot easier for me to set up each individual lens on my own.

Why should lens' need adjustment so regularly out of the box, specially the price of some of these units...

You're absolutely right, I don't see why a $500 lens can't focus perfectly on a $1000 body, and there's much more expensive combos out there that need calibrating. I guess it's just one of those stupid problems we end up having to deal with one way or another.
