now this is definitely a fast paced sport and it was pretty tough keep up with these guys through my lens..

This shot was taken from the media level which is a pretty good ways from ice level so the 300mm lens really reached out there for me. The actual size of the original shot isn't much larger than what you see here which is about a 95% crop. This lens is a nice little gem and the Image Stabilizer was a little tricky getting used to. I also shot a bunch with my 70-200 at ice level but since the glass was all scared up those did not come out as clean as this one did. Hopefully I can get another opportunity like this in the near future. It was a great learning experience and I love to have a second chance at it!

That's a great shot. Even if its your first HOCKEY shot, you are obviously a seasoned shooter. I on the other hand am a rank amateur but nevertheless an avid hockey shooter since my son plays. I just replaced my Digital Rebel with a 20D and i have a 70-200mm f2.8 (non-IS im afraid) and have tried many different techniques to get a sharp picture. Its tough with the low light of a hockey rink though. I am just now starting to get some better shots but no chance to post them yet. Anyway, I like the 300mm you shot but i am sure thats not in my near future since this is just a hobby.

I'd like to see your 70-200 shots though if you ever post them.
