Yeah, I love using the RC-1... It works great.. yes, you have to trigger from the front of the camera, but for most things I do, you can easily trigger the shutter without having to have your hand in the frame..

Best $20 ever spent. It's great to have it attached to the neck strap - always have it at your disposal and much harder to lose it.

i am going to have to get that !! where did you get it?

and some recent ones.

OK then, it's water

Weird how the lighting had this effect on the long exposure, I was expecting a slight green tint to the water but...

Ok, this is not right, this thread is on page 3... it needs to be bumped up!!

phamster, beautiful off camera flash work again. I'm having some thoughts about using it for a job (models wearing jewelry) and I was wondering if you only use studio strobes or if you use speedlights?

Just got my 5D2 and a 35L to go with it. I had to give up my 450D and 4 lenses (all EF-s) to get this. Spent a couple of sleepless nights wondering if I made the right choice, and what lens combination to go for. After the first few pics and a couple of videos, I think its well worth the trade. Here's one of the first pics I took with it.

Thank you :)

Getting it from One Stop Digital:

http://www.onestop-digital.com …ath=21_22&products_id=490 (external link)

2% discount if you pay via bank transfer - they are out of stock but expecting some in next week.

They have good feedback here in the U.K

Hong Kong based warranty - you have to pay for posting cam to HK - they repair under warranty and post back at their expense.

Apart from the lack of stock they are fine so far :)

Phamster, ah thanks!! I'm debating on what to do. I can't afford one of those huge battery packs for my Elinchromes, so I'm thinking of maybe buying a cheap setup with a smaller lamp (400W) and a battery pack.

I've seen some cheapo stuff, like a Falcon Eye, and hopefully I can trigger that together with some speedlights if I need to. Or a set with Elinchrom Ranger Quadra, but they are a bit pricy, even if I have wet dreams to own a Ranger RX Speed AS or similar. :)

Petra..

Lets see, in a location system you want light weight and quick assemble and reassemble, portability, durability, with quality light..

I found that all in the alien bee AB1600, with beauty dish.. the light modifier is small yet can provide good light.. and wont feel flimsy in the wind too..

So I ordered this:

Big light stand
Beauty dish 22 incher
Vagabond battery
AB1600

Triggers are cactus v4’s. 40 dollars for the set.. and receivers I have 5 now.. are 25 dollars each… really cheap and they work for me. I don’t ever need 100 feet or more performance.

All the above integrated with my canon speed lights well.. the cactus triggers plug directly into my bee and hot shoe for the speedlight.. sweet integration.

All of that might be just 1000 dollars.. may be your quadra is the solution, but it is only 400 watts..

This is my solution for now until I get more work.. heck I have only been doing this for about 1 year now.. still learning..
