Great shot Rob, but what was the reason for the ISO 800, was it to get a really high shutter speed??

Yep definitely for the high shutter speed. Not that you can see any noise there.
There does appear to be some fill lighting reflecting off the model.

A few more comments on my 5d2 focusing issue situation. All based on using the 24-105L.

I've noticed that with the FF sensor and the focusing mode set to single, if you move the slightest amount, your pics come up soft. What's really happening is that the DOF is SOOO shallow that they're either back or front focused. This is even at f8 and higher. The DOF never seems to get any deeper.

Servo mode seems to have solved the soft focus problem. New images are tack sharp, but the DOF is soooo shallow even at F8 on the kit lens that it's hard to get a totally focused portrait type shot. It's frustrating that the one shot focus mode pretty much has to be on a tripod to stay sharp. If you have any tips, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know if this is normal and part of the learning curve of going from a 40d to the 5D2, but I highly doubt it. I'm not a total photography noob.

I did. I tried my nifty 50 with similar results. I called BH and they sent me the exchange paperwork, but I hate to be without for a week or more. :(

Thanks buddy! I guess a return is in order then. I'm just hoping I don't get the new one and find similar results. I have a hard time believing it's user error, being that I do have a decent grasp on the mechanics of photography.

Don't worry. I strongly believe that the 5DMKII has been a very stable camera by now since it's been launched.

Sounds like user error to me. Without pics to verify it's hard to say, but I don't have this issue...no one I know has this issue.

I almost wonder if the issue is the lens, since the DOF didn't get deeper with aperture adjustments. AI Servo would consistently keep stuff in focus when the DOF is shallow wide open, which might explain even when trying to stop down to f/8 the slightest movement throws stuff out of focus. Just a thought

I'll add a few... picked up the 5D2 about 3 weeks ago. So far(knocks on wood) it has been a very nice step up from the 5D classic.
