Well, I did shoot the Xmas tree repeatedly and I can't get a black dot...and for what I do, non-issue - and all cameras in the digital age have issues, banding, noise, yadda yadda...Canon has jumped on it and obviously learned from the 1Dm3 experience (I hope).

Anyway, here is photo of my boy, and then a 100% crop...this photo has no noise reduction, no sharpening, no post of any kind. I think it is ISO 200.

If you turn on the highlight tone priority, this will bring out the black dot issue, but as other members have said a quick photoshop fix will sort it out.

Can't wait to get one myself, still waiting for a price drop over here.

last night was the first practice of the year for our community band so I took this for my 365. The DoF is definitely much more impressive on full frame and it's taking some getting used to so I don't blur out too much

Nice shot.

I'm noticing the same thing with DOF. My first FF body, and I'm having to learn my lenses all over again. I made small corrections between my 1.3x and 1.6x, but DOF difference is significantly greater with FF. It really needs to be stopped down(or back-away and crop later), when your subjects are staggered.

The math says 1.3 to 1.0 is a bigger jump than 1.6 to 1.3, but much more than I expected. Very cool when trying for a shallow DOF, but not so cool when you're trying to get a lot in focus.

yeah, this is my first FF camera as well. With my 20D, I could sort of cheat a little and keep the aperture opened up but still get a decent DoF. With this, if I open it up, it really throws a lot of details out of focus to create some great separation. This is great for portraits and the like, but when I'm doing other kinds of shooting in low light, not so much. I'm definitely putting the higher ISO to use in order to get a wider depth of field range.

DOF is one of my biggest learnings as well with the 5DII, I have gotten very accustomed to the crop DOF. At this point I am taking my normal assumptions on DOF and adding a stop to them to get what I want. So if I would normally use f/2.8 for the desired DOF I now use f/4 as a starting point. Not the greatest methodology but it is working so far.

Just a few snaps from the San Diego Zoo this weekend. With this camera, I've got to relearn what is possible with digital photography. Truly incredible.

FF certainly makes my 35L sing. I am finding the the 1.3 crop on 1DmkIII works great with the longer lenses like 85L as it gives a little more DOF when pretty wide open.

You state it right on. This is the type of body that forces us to improve as it exposes our deficiencies as photographers. Probably not a big deal from those moving from a 5DI or a 1DsIII, but for those moving from crops to a 5DII the difference is significant.

elbirth, hows your 50mm f/1.8 on your 5D2?

I've only used it a little so far, but overall I think it performs quite well, considering it's such a cheap lens. It may be in my head, but feels like it focuses slightly faster on the 5D2 than it did on my 20D. It'll still hunt around a little in low light like it always has though.
I was messing around with it some and did happen to notice some slight color fringing. I'm not sure if it's unique to it being on the 5D2 or not, as I never paid that much attention to its pixel-level details on my 20D. It could be cleaned up in post processing no problem though. Here's a quick example with a 100% crop (you can see the green finge in the crop)

And I do have to say, the 5D Mark II does look pretty stylish with the 50mm mounted on there
