Thanks for the kind words. Pic is actually 3 exposures, -1,0,+1 and then a completely different pic for the sky, all blended via post. Headlight and fog light were also lit in post.

Here is the original/final edit:

I decided to mess around with some gels and tried out something briefly discussed over in the 5D admirers thread. I really need a good macro lens so I can get in nice and tight. I had to make a big crop to get what I was looking for- good thing I've got all 21MP!

Not big on quoting photos so I snipped them out, but you'll know what I'm talking about without them, syntrix. Just wanted to say how nice it is to recognize locales in photos posted here--seems southern POTN users are pretty scarce! When I saw your 1st shot I thought "Little Rock", and the 3rd one clinched it for me. Couldn't tell the 2nd shot from Adam though  My family and I were there for a conference in early 2008 and had a great time.

Awesome, glad I could bring back some memories.

Here's one I didn't post here from that night, it's got some potential with the sharp contrast and bokeh.

A couple of snaps of the mutt. First one is 50 @1.4 ISO 800. Second, 35L @1.4 ISO 1250. No noise reduction.

Some stuff that says "Canon" on it and a happy trigger finger.

Thanks -- he's a great dog. He's got some German Shepherd in him too.

I posted a few earlier, but I got some sunset shots tonight that I'm rather excited about. Here's a couple. The others can be seen here. (external link)

I posted this on another thread, but it's my best so far. As far as an automobile photo goes, the jury's out about how the front wheels are positioned. I would tend to say that all wheels should've been straight ahead, but some people like them turned. The only editing is some brightening of the front scoop/grille, and the door pulls that usually hang down from the doors were edited out.

Ya know, I'm really impressed with the quality of images on this thread. In an odd way it shows why many professional photographers are being squeezed; the amateur and semi-pro results are getting better all the time.
