This was so out of the blue for me... I think the last time I tried to capture lighting might have been 25 years ago with a point and shoot 35mm film camera which obviously did not work.

Tonight I just happened to be out for a walk and saw the clouds building and the lighting in the distance so when I got home I went up in my attic and set up to see if I could catch anything.

I got really lucky... I took about 5 exposures before this bolt showed up. I took another 70 after that and although I didn't go through all of them yet I didn't see anything that great as they were all in or behind the clouds. Of course this was just what I needed to hook me on trying again and again (I am like that). :=)

I honestly think that lightning photos have to be some of the easiest things to get. At least for me, it's blindingly simple. :/

Awesome shot kevindar ! I am eagerly waiting for mine ... I am waiting for my payroll, my local dealer down the stairs of my office has my 5D2 sitting there ... it's only a matter of hours now !

I just put in order for a 5D2 w/next day shipping (<3 amazon prime, $2.99 nextday). Now I gotta sell all my crop stuff before credit card bill arrives and GF finds out .
