December 1,2008, all of the equipment for my livelihood was stolen from my car on Kinkaid St in Eugene, Oregon.
At least $30,000 worth of cameras, lenses, gear, including:
Canon 5D Serial Number 0820500706
Canon 20D
Canon EOS IV
100-400 Canon lenses, all my compact flash cards, other lenses, lensbabies, flashes, etc.. No insurance on any. No money to replace.
A gloomy Yule season start! $500 reward leading to recovery or info leading to the recovery. Please email me at skiturn789@yahoo.com (external link) or call 541-892-7980 if you have info or suspicions about the thief(s) or if you suspect something on ebay or Craigs List. Thank you. Larry

Sorry to hear that (and welcome to the forum). I hope the thief meets with an untimely death.

I can't imagine why you didn't have insurance on all that equipment, especially considering it constitutes your livelihood. :-(

Wow that $500 reward would offer me more than 2 years worth of insurance money. :) Always best to insure, and not leave gear in your vehicle. Hope this is a lesson learned.

His home owners might not cover it, but his car might, depending on how high his comprehensive is and whether it covers stolen items.

Sorry to hear about that mate, I'd so do what other people are suggesting with police, pawn shops, ebay, craigslist etc.

Good luck locating and recovering all you hard earned equipment. I'll give St. Anthony a chat, he's never let me down.

Wow, that's the second time someone has had an expensive kit stolen from their car in Eugene this year!

This is great advice. THerre have been several high profile stories lately where stuff has been recovered because it was posted on ebay or craigslist.

Are you sure? I had to have a specific rider to cover my camera gear. It is very cheap. I think it adds something like $75 a year to my homeowners policy.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

I also need/require a rider to cover my equipment. They want a full appraisal on my equipment and I have yet to get one. Both of my camera bodies were gifts.

All I had to do is fill out a form with serial numbers and value. I used the receipt value so if it is lost or stolen I can replace it.

But I do highly encourage everyone with more equipment in your bag than your willing to loose to get some form of insurance especially if it starts getting over that 10k mark.
