I hope this is not as dumb as it sounds but....I just ordered the 50D and am wondering if I should uninstall presently installed Canon utilities (DPP, EOS, Zoom Browzer etc) and then install new software that comes with 50D package or just install new and forget about the old software?

Installing over should be fine... that's what you do when you download the new software from Canon's website... I'd only go through the uninstall hassle if something didn't work.

The instructions with the disc say to write right over the top of the old. I did. No problems so far. I've used DPP & ZB.

Wish I could be commenting on the camera, but I've spent a good portion of the day screwing around with CR2 & DNG files, instead of being out shooting
