started when I was 15, used a digital compact. When I was 16 I forced my parents to get me a DSLR, they never approve to get me one and I told them how much I wanted it. When I was 17, I bought my own 5D without my parents know. Now I'm 19, 40D///

I was 9, my mom saved 2.95 and two ceral box tops and sent off for my camera. It never did work right. Next was a Yashica Lynx 5000e at 12-13, and then Minolta SR-& w/ two Steinheil - leitz lenses. i found out you get the cheerleaders to do your bidding just by pointing a camera at 'em...

Next came the venerable A-1's and it explodes into all formats and price ranges from there....

I am yet to get into photography, I just bought a Canon 1000D standard 18-55mm kit lens.

I still know nothing, but i'm waiting for Christmas Day when I can get my hands on it, I already had an hour playing around with it to make sure everything was fine, i've got my MacBook and Aperture 2 waiting and I can't wait to get my hands on it to take pictures...

I've been looking at DSLR's for 2 years, but they never ended up top of the list for my needs, now i'm ready, i'm 22, got a busy schedule, but I can't wait to get into photography and see what I can come up with. :)

We "need to know" your age for reasons of "community and equipment comparisons" What was your first "new" camera.....heh heh.

34 when i started last August. Now 35 and getting more serious (although i seem to have less and less time to shoot at the moment). First camera - 400d although i distantly remember being given a 110 when i was in my early teens - not sure what happened to it or the photos i took (i certainly wasnt serious about it like i am now).

At age 18 I got hooked. Our art class had a short photography section and I fell in love. After that it wasn't until I was 20 that I really started taking it seriously. I really miss doing it professionally (was a PJ). Now I just kinda dawdle around.

I was 8 years old when I first asked for a camera for Christmas. I didn't get one until I was 16, even then it was just a very basic 35mm point and shoot. It wasn't until college that I got serious about it when I got an Elan II. I was 19 then.

About 14 I think. My old man bought me a Minolta X700 and 35-70 for Christmas from winnings he'd accumulated from competitions in various magazines.

What a legend!
