I'd like to get a hood for my 50mm for stray light, but will I be able to mount it with a Canon 58m UV Haze filter also on the lens?
Looks like I can get a knock-off for <$10 on Ebay.

Depends on the hood you get. My Website

So long as the hood mounts via the bayonet, you should be able to reverse it for storage, which helps protect this particular lens' AF mechanism from bumps. Alan Myers

Dec 07, 2008 19:44 | #7 Amfoto1 - agreed on losing the filter. I do notice a little softness when using that filter, but I shoot outside so much I'm paranoid about dust and bumps. I think once I have a hood, I'll lose the filter. Canon 60D | Canon 35mm f/2 | Wish list: Canon 70-200 f/4

I can't tell from teh pics on the ebay hood, but if the inside of it is just the hard plastic then bright light hitting the inner surface could be reflected into the lens. -- Ken

It's more like a flocking. One end of the short fibers is fastened to the inner surface of the hood and the other end is loose - sort of like a very short haircut. Skip Douglas

Dec 24, 2008 12:28 | #14 I just got the hood I ordered from Ebay (see link above). The fit is just fine as far as I'm concerned. The interior isn't felt, but it's very flat black plastic. I'm going to see about a DIY black felt liner, but I'm not sure if it'll be necessary. I'll have to find a authentic Canon for comparison, first. Anyone with a Canon ES-71 want to take nice detailed picture? Canon 60D | Canon 35mm f/2 | Wish list: Canon 70-200 f/4
