Hate to have to admit this, but I didn't lock my car last night when I had a model come over. I had 3 parked in the driveway, as the garage is my studio. Well, shoots done, and I've finished putting away all the gear and I start moving cars into the garage. I get in car #2 and the center armrest/console is open. I finish moving the cars, and ask my wife if she was in the car- Nope!

So lesson learned is always lock the cars when you have strangers coming over, and make sure they don't have unmonitored access to the house.

EDIT: Removed possibly accusatory text and replaced with warning only. Hope that helps.

So you are accusing your model of stealing from you? How do you know it was just not some other kid from the neighborhoods?

Well, let's put it this way. No one else in the neighborhood had trouble. I'm not saying for certain it was her, but simply trying to offer a suggestion for some additional protection.

before blaming the model, which it appears you have no evidence against, blame yourself for 1 - leaving the car unlocked, 2 - leaving expensive items in the car.

if you were in the UK youd be lucky to have the car still on your driveway lol.

That is a shame

I would call the model and let her know of the situation (heads up so she can verify nothing was taken from her car). Mention the police are set to come over to get prints. See what she says....

Either way I would call the police.

Thieves suck!!

I did file a report, had the police come out to the house. I did call her initially too, to see if she had "seen anyone, as I knew items had been taken". Had to leave a VM, and she has not called me back yet.

Here in Georgia we had three neighborhoods hit in a single night with this. I had two cars ransacked (luckily all they could have stolen was the change in the console and some empty coke cans...)

Kids on a lark out of school. Just wait for Winter vacation..(what we used to call Christmas Vacation before PC...)

my cars were both broken into.. the first time was my head unit out of my truck.. the second time was both of my cars at the same time. both times my cars were broken into.. the cars were locked. the second time my cars were broken into.. my DL, and my back up credit card were stolen ( i keep on hidden under the seat for just in case situations) and there were 6 other cars that were hit too.. random crime sprees happen.. its up to us to start protecting our suff more.

tis the season for theivery.. lock your stuff up and make sure anything worth anything is removed from your cars.

i have learned my lesson, and my car alarms are armed at all times..

Our neighborhood is one of those where people can leave garage doors open all night, front doors unlocked. I know, it's a burglary waiting to happen, but that's how quiet the neighborhood is. My lesson learned, at a small expense. It could have been worse; my ipod was on the back seat. Whomever did this, wasn't taking his/her time going thru the cars.

My wife's car was also quickly rifled too. All they'd get there is hald eaten fruit snacks ;)

My wifes father was that way, His neigbour hood are all family and friends from his towns in portugal.

We always drive up to find the garage door open, they leave the cars in the drive ways with the keys still in them! and he always said nothing would ever happen!!

Turned out his garage was robbed stole everything that was not nailed down... Snow blower, ride on lawn tractor all his tools for work they had to put through a claim for almost 70 grand!

Turned out months later they found out it was the neighbors kid who seen the door always open and then one weekend knew they where going to be out late at a Portuguese dance and had his friends come with a trailer and took it all. Caught him trying to sell the tools to the local hock shop.

It is indeed the time of year that thievery rises. We always lock our cars and our garage doors, but we've still had the vehicles broken into a couple of times, and it's always right around December/January.

thats when my truck was broken into was in jan.. right after christmas.. stole my brand new head unit. ( i loved it so much, i went out and bought the same one. a couple of days later.

but its horrible when you go out to your car, and see your things open, and someone viloated your space like that.

it makes you wonder why people steal from someone else.

we got video footage of the people using my credit card, and i know exactly who they are. ( neighbor punks accross the street).

Did you press charges? Tough call I know because you want justice but you run the risk of escalating things...

Today it's a car window but next month, after going to court and feeling like they've been pi$$3d on, they'll haul off and torch your house.

Some people just don't give a damn about other people's space or property.

+1 and a slap!

Lesson learned I'm sure.

It sure as hell sucks to have stuff stolen from you. I'm all for stealing when there is no direct victim but stealing from a individual is not cool.
