And here's another BF. Hope ya'll aren't too bored of them. Basically, one of the best tests I've done, with the 1Ds2.

Do you have C-Fn 3, Jeff? As for C-Fn 11, I quite like option two. It's '3' buttons/wheels instead of 4. The main dial on the back of the body controls horizontal focus points, while the Aperture Dial and the 'x' (to the left of the FE lock/- zoom buttons) control the vertical AF point selection. Easier on my right thumb.

I wouldn't either Tareq. Fortunately, I have enough subjects to shoot with what I have. Now, playing with a new body will be a challenge, that's all. :)

What is the challenge with new body? what i can say then with 3 different systems [P&S, DSLR, MF]?
about C.Fn on my 1DsII, C.Fn 3 is not available unless i do something and C.Fn 11 is at 0.

Tareq, I've never owned a 1-series camera. Basically, started from film, moved to a 20D, to a 5D, and now, as 1Ds2. It's a progression, to learn how a camera works. After three years of owning the 5D, it became second nature, due to the simple mechanics of the camera. The 1Ds2 has so many more functions, buttons, menu options, AF points, etc. A slight learning curve, but, still enough to warrant some more learning. :)

When a person owns it all, they know lots of things about lots of things. Limit yourself to one body at a time for maybe a month, or two, you'll understand what I mean. ;)

I was using Nikon P&S for almost 5 months before i buy 350D which i use it for almost 6 months before i buy 30D for also about 3-4 months before i upgrade to 1D MarkII N, then after 5 months i bought 5D and 1DsII at the same time in one order, then after about 14 months i bought 1D markIII, then maybe after 8 months the last DSLR i have 1DsIII, then around 6 months later of 1DsIII i bought my Hassy, and when i buy a new body along of those i have i was using it for more than 1 month even i use another camera for backup, and i never have difficulties to use all of them in less than 2 days first time with the first 4 cameras.

No problems using it here, either. I'm just getting accustomed to it, that's all. ;)

Going from a FF film camera, to a crop, back to a digital FF camera was in and of itself a challenge. Now, going from a 5D to a 1Ds2 is going to be a nice challenge. That's all. Can't believe I've lived with 98% coverage for so long. Now, I have seen the 'light.' no pun intended. ;)

Very nice shot too!

Maybe slightly less pop to it compared to the other two you posted earlier but definitely worth signing your name to it! ;)

I've been stuck around the house the past several days and haven't had a chance to go out and do any fresh shooting! :( Hopefully, tomorrow, I'm going to venture downtown and possible get a few shots in!

Cheers!

So I just plugged the camera into my machine, via a firewire cable, and cannot seem to get to the menu's via the EOS utility. Anyone have any ideas? What version of EOS Utility should work with this thing? Another issue is I have windows 7, so, not sure if that's causing the issues?

I plugged it in via USB and Firewire, and the camera is recognized, just can't seem to get to the menus. ???

FWIW, and for whatever stupid reason, Canon's EOS Utility does NOT support the custom curve function of the 1DsII. For this very reason, I still use the older EVU (EOS Viewer Utility) that came on the CD. It's asinine that EU (which replaced EVU) does not support all the functions on the 1DsII, but Canon doesn't mention it anywhere, and doesn't provide a download link for EVU on their sites.

So I wouldn't be surprised if Canon got some of the 1DsII PFn's wrong in EU as well!

BTW, nice shootin'...

Thanks guys. Appreciate it.

M3...yeah, it's a slight pain, especially when OS's and technology in general are moving foward at such the fast pace. I used the EOS Utility included with my wifes' 5D bundle, and the viewer works fine. Weird how Canon left out P-Fn's 11-13, of course, I have no idea what they are since they don't exist. ;)

I'm just glad I was able to rebuild an old laptop to be able to connect to the camera. I think once the P-Fn's are set, there's really no need to go back and change them so I won't be wasting tons of energy on the laptop. It does what I need it to, for those off chances that I'll want to change the P-Fn's.

ZZ -- C-Fn 11 should really have one more option, but, it doesn't. I have mine set at '2' for now, since it allows use of the main wheel for horizontal focus point selection, and then vertical is controlled by the 'x' and aperture wheel. Aperture is still set by the aperture wheel, as well, but, shutter speed is now controlled by the zoom+ and aperture wheel. Hehe...it sounds more tedious than it is, really. ;)

Yeah, Jeff...I think somewhere along the line I screwed it up in post, but, I felt it was worthy enough, too.

in the manual..... :) it says that the CF left out is so taht they dont mix with older models.... And yes it sound very tedious ... :) using the 1 wheel on only 9 points is fast enough for me... :)

^^Hey, I don't have an original manual...I suppose I could find one online somewhere in PDF form. Probably Canons' site? I'll check. Would be a nice to have, over the magic lantern guide. That's all. ;)

Meanwhile, here's a flower from todays excursion to the park. Still learning things about this camera so it is what it is...just another learning experience for me. Love those outer focus points...I do. :)

Nice shooting, Manish! Glad to see you're having fun and getting nice results! ;)

...............

I've been working on an other comp shot of a Church I shot back in the spring and finally found a deserving sky for it with last night's sunset. The Church was shot with the 24L and the sky with the 14L.

Nice shot, Jeff. Seems that the two shots were taken at different times/days? or same time span? Just curious.

I thought about the light poles, and while it sucks that they'd put them there, clonging them out would take away a bit of symmetry that exists in the overall shot. Good choice on leaving them there. There's one that I'd clone, but, it's not very noticeable in the overall image.

I like it. ;)

Meanwhile, let me ask you about AF points that are to the outside. If a piece of fast glass is attached to the body, when/where do the cross-type sensors start working? Where do they work, with regard to the focus point? I'm gonna read a bit, and try to understand 'when' those extra assist points do their thing...just thought I'd ask if someone had the short answer. I'm being lazy right now...

Thanks!

There was about an hour's difference in the sun's position so yes, off a bit but still pointing in the relative same position. Erasing around the light posts was tedious work but glad I opted to leave them in. I had to zoom into the shot at 600% to make sure I was doing a neat job!

Cheers!

Gotcha. Cool. Thought I noticed a difference in the 'light' from the Sun...that's all. ;)

Been a good break for me, these past few weeks...so, gonna start kickin' it into gear again. At least I hope. ;)
