Don't fancy much Downhill action on that;)

HAHA no. I am not a road bike fan not since Lemond retired. And especially of the larger manufacturers. But it has paid the bills the last three years and has tought me way to much about PS. Most people pay $20K at college to learn what I got paid to learn!

More tilt shift fun... ;)

This, a 3 shot panoramic using the shift control in the landscape mode to pan left center and right, then assembled in CS4 and processed to taste.

Ha! :D

I used to love watching those painting shows on PBS! ;)

I guess I'm just a frustrated painter deep down inside! Probably an affliction many photographers suffer from. :o

Anyway, here's another one from this morning that hopefully will look slightly less painted...

John.

Looking good, John! ;)

I used to subscribe to Cycle magazine back in the 70's and remember seeing many pictures of trial bikes and events and I'm surprised how little those bikes have changed in all these years! Is Bultaco still making trials bikes? I remember them being the coolest looking bikes back in the day.

Cheers!

I am glad to see more and more people contributing to this thread!

I ran into something a bit odd last night when doing a little shoot -- there were several times the AF confirm light blank constantly but did not let me trigger the shutter with pushing the button the other half way down. I am using wireless OFC if that is of any help, so the camera doesn't necessarily know I have flash to compensate for the poorly lit environments.

I noticed this before and thought it may be 'hunt' but I disabled 'hunt' in low-light situations through FW and personal functions.

I was using a 135mm 2L on both instances so I don't think the lens is the culprit here as this thing is notorious for it's fast AF and ability to lock focus.

Anyone care to explain this phenomena to me?

Ravi,

Is the behavior the same on the portrait shutter button too? If so, then I'd suspect a setting is involved that is preventing the camera from taking the picture. And there are some Pf settings that might do that like the one which only allows the picture to be taken when the subject is in focus; P Fn 16. There might be also a custom function for not allowing a shot to be taken if it's outside the range of acceptable exposure...I don't remember the number but check for that too.

Also, you mentioned this behavior with the 135L. Does it do this with any other lenses?

Cheers!

Have yet to get to test another lens. I have been having a good time breaking this bad boy in and kind of favored the foot-zoming fun and forgot about wide angle perspective options.

I will have to look into my personal functions as there are plenty of things that you've said that sound familiar to me; I'm just not sure if I enabled them or not.

Gonna have to find out because it's irritating as hell.

As Ravi is raising questions I'll do the same. (Probably not nearly as intricate but one that is puzzling me anyway.)
I've doing some long exposure low light shots, 20+ sec. and when I do the camera seems to take an extra long time to buffer the shot. I haven't timed it yet but it seems to almost be an equal time to the length of the exposure. Is this normal?
Any insight is appreciated.

Sidg, i noticed that on mine at some occasions as well, it might be that you have some noise reduction on and that writing the file it ads some information. I cant remember it doing it in raw with noise off.

p.s some great shots in the thread BTW, Ghost at first i was "got dang" there is some funky shades on the leaves - then i saw the PP. Looks cool!!!

Yup, the long exposure NR is turned on, which basically takes a second exposure with the shutter closed to map the hot pixels and then subtract them from the frame. Mine does it on 30 second exposures on the first one and so long as the setting don't change and power is still on, it reuses that info on other successive frames with long exposures. Otherwise, it will do it again if things change or the power cycles off...all normal operation for the camera.

Mike, thanks for the feedback on the shot! I did do an up-painted version too which isn't quite as wild looking...

Congrats!

Grab a 17-40L! ;)

It's a really good general purpose landscape lens and will give you some nice wide perspectives with the full frame format.

A nifty 50 will be fairly limiting unless you're mostly just shooting people and portraits?

Cheers!
