need a little assistance.
I am getting a little trash thrown my way that a 7D is better than a 1Dsii in AF.
for wedding shooting in low light, i have found this to be true.
I know ....the 7D better than a 1D camera .... stop the press - pull the plug on the servers!
There was mention the ability for expanded points on 1dsii. From what i read this is for long lens only.
So this does not help much on a 24L or Siggy 50mm F1.4.
90% shoot one shot.
any help would be really appreciated.
I am always up for some learning.
ps. 1) down loaded manual and have read several times. 2) down loaded several recommended setting docs and a white paper on the 1DIII that references the 1Dsii and 1DiiN.
pss. I have shot 4 all day wedding with the 1Dsii (60-70%) - the other 30-40% is with a 7D.
psss. I am not looking for an out right winner here -just want to glean the most out of each tool.
Thanks Mark
I dont own a 1DsII or a 7D but i do own the 1D mark IIN and in my experience all these expanded AF points dont really bring up your % keepers.
What I'd want from a good autofocusing body would be for it to acquire perfect focus, at the focus spot i want. Having expanded AF points only makes things worse by widening the area of contrast detection by the AF sensor.
The zone AF of the 7D sounds cool but then again the "ring of fire" mode on the 1DsII/1D2 should be able to track just as well.
One key point in the AI servo performance on the 1DII/1DsII is the AI Servo tracking sensitivity. 'slowest' seems to have the highest % keepers for me for most types of shooting, except for maybe high speed stuff where one would be shooting at shutter speeds of faster than 1/1000s
