Well I went ahead and did it. Found a great deal. £1499, body in excellent condition with just a minor scuff mark near the shutter button, and only 42K on the shutter.
My new toy arrived this morning, and as a first time user of a 1D series camera I have to say I'm even more impressed than I thought I would be. :D

No sense and unfortunately not enough money.

Welcome! What kind of glass are you putting on it? I just got a 24-105L and I think it was love at first sight between the two. At ISO 800 this shot just looks like... film? There are just so many subtle tones and details that I hadn't really seen before...

this camera does produce an amazing look, doesn't it? I just love the quality of the images...there's just something intangible....it's really special.

He said he had a thing called ND, that you could buy as extra to all the models... even to the xxxd models... So why would i trust him.... :)

I had been talking about wanting to pick up a 1DsM2 for a while (in a large part do to comments I read in this thread.)

My wife finaly asked me last week to quit talking about it and just do it. I did not want to let her down!!! :)

Now I can join the club.

The mailman just dropped of my new 1DsM2. Bought it on the FM boards, has less than 8k clicks on it and is in like new shape, even better than the pictures.

I cannot wait to get out and get some shots with it. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

WTG, SpurAK! :D

What camera were you using before and what lenses do you have to go with your new camera?

Cheers!

I have been shooting a 40D. I love to shoot landscapes and wildlife. My favorite landscape lens is Canon's EF-S 10-22 (which I will need to replace.)

For wildlife my favorite lens is my 300 f4 L is.

I also have a Sigma 20-70 f2.8 (the original one not the new one) and a Sigma 70-200 f2.8. I also have a nifty fifty.

The Sigma lenses are ok but I would like to replace them.

I am thinking 17-40L, 70-200 F4 IS, and either a Canon 24-70 f2.8 or a 24-105 f4 IS.

I am not sure I will be keeping the 40d or not.

Congrats and welcome to "the club!"

Some random thoughts on lenses: You may miss the reach you had with a 1.6x crop sensor for wildlife. With that in mind, instead of a 70-200 F4 IS, consider the 100-400 F4.5 IS. 17-40L is an excellent landscape lens on a FF. And for outdoors, the 24-105 will be more versatile and less bulky than the 24-70.

I picked mine up from the FedEx office over lunch.

What a beast!! About 5k on the shutter and looks brand new. Thanks iqbal624.

Right now I feel like I'm not worthy......but I'm gonna have fun trying.
