In Sept, 2008 we had a wonderful journey to China. A favorite part of the trip was visiting Lhasa, Tibet. The weather was great, the people nice, and the scenery beautiful. Of course, everyone must visit the famous Potala Palace in Lhasa.

A small part of the Palace:

It is a mighty climb, at 12,000 feet, to the top of the Palace. My wife is bringing up the rear of our small group.

Thanks, ahhhlawn. "Pics look a little on the grainy side..." How do you determine that? I did not take my Rebel XT - instead used my little Canon S500 5 megapixel pocket camera at ISO 400.

Thanks to Tshaw for that wake up call about ISO! I will learn to pay greater attention to what I am supposed to do.

What a trip that must have been. The palace is huge and I don't think I would have made it up all those stairs. Thanks for sharing those good pics, Harold.

Thanks, Tee Why and Stan. Joan and I both took Diamox to stave off any altitude sickness - which worked for us. It was interesting to look at the nearby mountains ringing Lhasa and realize that, since we were already at 12,000 feet, the mountains were at 14,000 feet.
