This may be old hat to some, but I had never seen a Hummingbird's eyelid (or membrane - not sure what it is officially called). I thought this was pretty cool and a good example of 6 frames / sec improving your luck for capturing this kind of thing. Shot in Southern California in low light at dusk, handheld with a 70-200L 2.8. He came so close I had to back up to get MFD. Great fun.

Does anyone else have shots of their eyelids?

I have caught a number of hummingbird eyelid shots. I think hummers blink more than any other bird from the number I have photographed. :)

Thanks. Interesting. I wasn't sure because I hadn't seen any posted here.

They have eyelashes also....I have a number of images I haven't processed showing the eyelid and lashes but eye contact is important so I don't process them....haha.

I don't usually keep them. I have a few but haven't posted them.
