This is my backyard from a couple days ago. Some of it melted already, but as I speak more is coming down.

Let me know what you think.

It's overexposed. Shooting snow is so damn hard, I still haven't gotten the hang of it from last season. Just waiting for this one to roll around to try, try again.

yeaaaaaaa its hard shooting snow. You know, you get the trees looking great but then it looks like they are growing in a white light box. I've tryed some "burning" on snow before and it worked out alright. Brought some lost/overexposed data back in place.

This one may be a perfect exposure but it looks a little dingy on my cal'd. monitor.

The original post looks somewhat over to me also.

Wait for the sun to come out. If you're lucky, it will be morning or late afternoon and you can get the shot before the snow melts or the wind blows it out of the trees. The light on cloudy days is flat and fails to bring out contours and detail. There's not enough of it to illuminate the non-snow elements. So they come out black.

Thanks for the critique all.

It was a clear today after we got a dusting last night, so I put my CPL to good use and was pretty pleased by the result.

I really like your second try, would look alot better with snow on the trees though...hopefully youll get another shot!!!

On the first one the ground and the sky are almost the same color, so it just seems like the trees are just there...

This really makes me miss snow though, living in the high desert, we dont get it :(
