Agree with everyone here. Skin softening isn't usually needed for men...a more rugged look will actually probably be appreciated. Clean up any blemishes, but leave the skin texture in tact.

I think it's just the missing skin detail that most don't appreciate.

Do it on a 2nd layer so that you can delete and start again if needed. I've got a friend with bad rosacea that I shoot occasionally, and this is all I do to her skin as well....she's a very "natural" sort of person and rarely wears makeup. She's always been really pleased with the results. Take your time, and do it with a small brush. Blog

Be real careful with the bandaid tool. Make sure you work at 100% and make the circle as small as possible. Don't use the spot heal, use the regular heal and make sure you sample from good areas that match tonally. ~John
