As a classically trained musician, the idea of private lessons is fairly common. You generally find a professional who plays/teaches your instrument and you study with them on a weekly basis - typically a 1 hour lesson. Instructor demos, explains, and assigns homework.
I am wondering if the same sort of thing exists in the photography world. Although I have learned a ton from this forum and reading books, I learn best by experiencing the techniques in person with a professional. Do pros offer private lessons? A one on one situation scheduled on a weekly/biweekly basis. Either meet in the field, or at my residence, or at theirs? Perhaps go out and shoot, or work in a studio, or work on PP'ing. Someone who I would pay - and it would be their job to teach me whatever I need to know.
I am asking in this forum because I am not looking for just an enthusiastic amature to go shooting with. But a professional who has seen and done everything and is going to act as the teacher.
Thanks,
Stefan
