Traditionally, every Christmas I create and give a calendar to my parents, my brother and his wife, and my niece featuring 12 of my favorite images I've captured throughout the year. This year I thought I'd try something a little different. I decided to go all out and do a full year of nothing but birds. It was quite an ordeal but I really enjoyed putting it together. The only problem was I found myself running out of decent bird shots when I got toward the last few months.:)

Anyway, I thought I'd share what one of the months will look like. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Looks like a fun project Kris. It must be hard picking out the best shots. :)

If this is one month I can't imagine how many images you had to sort through...well, I could but I don't feel like doing the math.

This is a great idea...I wish I would have thought of it sooner...oh well, there's always next year.

Very nice kris...do you send these out to be printed or do you have some calendar stock that you use? Curious, because I made a couple one year through snapfish or kodak, and they cost and arm & leg....he..he..

Great job Kris. I thought about doing this recently and plan on doing it soon. I think it will be a cool project.

Nice work. I'm in the process of doing that now. Although I do include other wildlife.

Good idea. For several years, I made calendars to give as Christmas gifts. Making 12-15 calendars, each custom for the recipient, can be a huge job. People liked them, but it was too much work for me, even though I used only 13 photos per calendar.

Very nice work! I do the same thing every year for my dad and this year for my girlfriend. Who prints your calendar? I went through Kodak. Not the best, but not bad. The printing this year didn't look as good as last year.

Thank you all for the nice comments. This was a fun project but it took about 3 weeks to complete. Now I suppose my recipients will expect something like this every year.:p

I use MPIX for all my prints. Here's the URL: http://www.mpix.com/ (external link).

They have calendar software you can download. Their turn-around time on images is incredible. I usually receive my images within a day or so after uploading and ordering. They have a great variety of products as well. And, pricing isn't bad either.

I just did a bird calendar through MPix. I like their software and the format, and the turnaround was quick, but honestly I'm not impressed with the print quality. It looks like something I could have done myself on an inkjet. Not even close to a professional quality.

Photos look great Kris, I'm sure your family will enjoy a small glimpse of the outdoors.

Next year, when I make the foray into calender making, I'm going with a photography store up here named Blacks. Hopefully it works out well, although I'm also looking south of the border to my American friends as well if our dollar goes back to being at par.
