Hi,I currently have a canon rebel xs 1000d,I have become intrested in a sound trigger..The trigger will work with my camera as plugging into the remote shutter port,my question is,do I need a external flash ? Will my cameras built in flash work good enuf & will the sound trigger work being plugged into my remote port or was I mislead on that fact..Can someone help ?
What exactly are you trying to achieve with the sound trigger? If you're trying to just actuate the shutter release by, say, clapping your hands, then that'll work and the built-in flash will fire when the shutter is open, assuming that it's popped up.
If what you're trying to do is capture a high-speed action image the instant a sound is produced, such as a balloon popping, then triggering the camera is not going to do it. Because of the shutter lag time, the "action" will be over by the time the camera shutter is open. You'll need an external flash that is triggered directly by the sound. The camera will need to be in Bulb mode and the room darkened.
