I just got a ST-E2 that I purchased from Tri-State that I bought off of ebay taking advantage of the cashbback program..........Anyway, there is no instruction book or warranty card in the box. It was advertised as new, and it came in the Cannon box, but it just seems odd that there was no paperwork with it. Is this how this unit comes??? No paperwork??

I know Tri-State has a questionable rep on resellers ratings, but they seem pretty flawless to their ebay customers. Can anybody help me out here??

Mark

Hmm that sounds fishy to me. Mine came with a 17 page instruction manual. I can't find its box and can't remember if it came with a warranty card, though. This is a good reminder that I need to clean up my paperwork...

Anyway, the lack of instruction manual is definitely a red flag.

Ask them about this and tell them that you were expecting a factory sealed with USA warranty. They'll be pretty helpful to keep their rep on ebay.

That does sound as though the instruction manual has been removed somewhere along the line which in itself raises suspicion. Was the nylon (or whatever) protective carrying case included?

I have the box for mine right here, original contents still in it.

107 Page instruction booklet (6 languages)
International warranty card
Protective case, looks like leather but isn't, probably vinyl.

Mine came direct from Hong Kong

Yeah, it did come in it's case wrapped in plastic & the unit was also wrapped in plastic inside the case. Appears to be a new unit. Lens are clean, hot show adapter shows no wear, battery compartment empty, but no paperwork.......... Makes me wonder

I bought a grey market ST-E2 from Adorama since the USA ones were sold out; I don't think it came with a manual.

It wasn't listed grey market. It wasn't listed USA version either. If it is a grey market, how can you tell? Does it work as well as the US version??. Now I'm all screwed up..........

I would think if it is a grey market they should list it that way.

Of course i don't mind you asking, it was off Ebay and I think they were called Urgalexy.

I bought a few bits from them, excellent service but now I think they are gone - Shame!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the manual, ST-E2's are very basic, it's easy to work out what it does and how it works!
