5 Months after I bought first DSLR came the 70-200 f2.8 IS, 8 months later came the 24-105L. Combined with my 100mm macro & 50mm f1.8 I am happy, however, today I ordered the 50D:cool:

I got the 70-200 f4L IS a year after I got my Xti for my 40th birthday (as well as the 100 macro and the 85 1.8). This summer I started saving for the 24-105...I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have many opportunities to make money. So after the garage sale and selling some other stuff I had $700. I figured my husband could kick in the difference for my Christmas gift. Well, the lens came last week, and he knew I wouldn't want to wait so he gave it to me. I said I'd deposit the money in our account the next day to which he replied "No, this is your present. Merry Christmas and use that money on something else you want". How I love that man!!!

Just got my first dSLR and I'm pretty confident it will be a long, long time before I buy an L lens. Somehow I managed without them with film for years.. ;)

Looks like I am quite the minority here, though.

Unfortunately, it may still lead to death. My wife said she'd kill me if I bought another lens. :p

I got the 17-40 about three months after my 300D back when it was the only "choice" for a premium standard zoom on APS-C (without going for the 16-35). Somewhat regret the timing of the purchase as the newer 2.8 zooms from Tamron and Sigma would have been much more useful. I got the rest of my lenses within a year (300L on auction as the final "piece" of my APS-C setup) and have held steady since then but with the 5d2 release (picked up the Sigma 50/1.4 this summer after two and a half years "sober") and the yen/dollar exchange I am very close to importing both the 24 and 35L's from the US... only holding back to see how the mark 2 turns out (and for the inevitable 35LII announcement in the spring). For the pair, its a full $1000 cheaper than in Japan! Don't know if I can go back to zooms, so that's about it for me (300/2.8L or the 24-70 if they added IS.... maybe)

I actually just got my 50D a few weeks ago and am holding out until I learn a bit more (books, practice) with the kit lens and the nifty fifty before I buy an L. Good thing probably because from what I hear once I start I'm in trouble!

First will probably be a 70-200 f4L IS USM
