While better then LR 1.4 (better usable as DAM & decent camera profiles, jay!)
A few things I'd like, at least as an option:

  • When clicking "Previous", all settings of the previous image are copied over, except local adjustments or gradients. Why copy Spot Removal (which is not the same for each image, but based on content) and not at least give the option to copy gradients here as well? Or am I missing something? (Yeah, I know I can use sync)

  • The shortcuts for "TAT" Automatically opens the corresponding panel. Pressing Cmd+Opt+Shift+N ("none") doesn't revert the panel back to the original state. Kinda defeats the keyboard shortcut ;)
  • The HSL panel is one I rarely use, so I want it closed if not needed...

  • NR and sharpening needs to get better as well, but that might come in 2.2

Anyone wants to add (or has a solution)?

1. +1 for enhancing the noise reduction and sharpening options
2. I want to be able to control the order of the editing panels (Basic, Tone Curve, Split Toning, etc) in the Develop module. For me, I use the Basic and Details panels the most, and I want them to be close together so I don't have to scroll up and down. I should be able to click and drag a panel header and move it to the spot I want
3. I want to have more control over what happens when two seperate gradiant adjustments intersect. Right now, the effect if cumulative, meaning the the adjustments of both gradiants are done to the intersected area. I would like to be able to tell LR to use one as a priority, and override any others that intersect.
4. For the paint brush tool, I want a check box or something that will allow me to display a red "Quick Mask" on the image that shows exactly where I painted at while I'm painting. Right now, I only see that after the fact, not while I'm doing the actual painting.
5. On import, I want more flexibility in naming the folder that images will be imported to when using the "Copy file" or "Move file" option in the import dialog. Right now, LR gives me options for a folder structure that only uses date. I want to be able to use metadata elements as well, since I like to have folders for each of my camera's under dates. Plus I like to store RAW files seperate from JPG files. For now I have to use BreeseSys Downloader Pro to do this for me.
6. I'd like to see Lightroom accept 3rd party addin's that give additional post processing capabilities like's Photoshop's Filter's menu. I'd like these addin's to have their own panel under the develop module, which will allow me to use their features while I'm editing the image, not while I export the image.
7. When adding vignettes, I'd like more control over where the center of the vignette will be. Lightroom assume the center of your image is the center of the vignette. If you follow rules of thirds, and take portraits using rules of thirds, then the vignette will start to cover your head/face because it is not perfectly centered. I'd love to be able to click on the image somewhere, and set a "vignette center" and then when I make adjustments using the vignette sliders, they will be based on the point I clicked.

I want checkboxes next to keywords for easier, more dynamic AND searches.

I would like to see the B&W conversion engine work more like the one in Photoshop...

In CS3 I can get nice, deep, dark (heck, black) blue skies with virtually no noise, ringing or fringing but not so much in LR...

I'd also like to see assingable "Base" keywords that can be tied to a particular folder. For example, I went out today for a couple of hours and came back with some aircraft shots, some birds and some urban landscape.

So what I'd love to be able to do is import everything into an IN BOX, then when I move the plane shots to my aviation folder, it would be nice if at least the keyword "Aircraft" could be automatically assigned. Same for "Birds" and "Urban"

It would make it easier to then go back and find them to add specific words later. I would know that the latest media is at the bottom of each given folder but I could search by that base keyword.

Just a thought...

BBD -
Take a look at these presets:

Or this site might be of interest:

My own peeve is the inadequacey of output sharpening; not only is it inexact with just three off-the-peg choices (small, medium and large) but by being on the Export dialog it gives no possibilty of a preview. Amusingly, it reminds me of DPP 1.0 that eventually developed beyond that.

Put your requests in via the official form and then they'll definitely get put into the pot, even if they then get thrown out again. Official Feature Request/Bug Report Form (external link)

There's some really good ideas there.

Previous - yep, I'd like the option to exclude crop too. (Spot removal could be the same across a clear sky, where they're most visible, but I completely agree with you!)

Don't expect too much of 2.2 - most dot releases (for all software) are bug fix releases rather than additional features. 1.x just got a lot of new features each time as they were gradually being 'finished off' from work done previously, because it was a version 1 release.

BigBlueDodge, if there are panels you don't use, you can right click to hide them entirely until you want to use them. Paint brush - have you tried pressing O to show the overlay?

Tzalman, the output sharpening actually underwent some really heavy duty testing by some of the biggest names in the business, and it's more powerful than it looks - whilst it only gives you a choice of 3 output types and 3 strengths, there's WAY more going on under the hood to get the best result. Unless you have years of experience in print sharpening, you can't tell exactly how will look by looking at a screen preview, so any preview would mean very little anyway.

I'm pretty happy with things if they would just speeeeed it up. I'm not sure if that has been requested yet Victoria <sarcasm>:). I've gotten used to the slowness until I use Bridge or Zoombrowser, then it is "Wow I wish LR was like this"

I wish I could save multiple presets PER image. Im working on some pictures and it feels like I have to start from scratch each time I want to do something new.

Not sure what you mean... you can use "snapshots"and "virtual copies"... maybe look into how to use those and see if they do what you are wanting.
