My guess it`s a Shew, as for carrion i don`t know .......it sat, stalked, dived, then came back up with the goodies !

I googled shrew and came up with a small mouse like mammal with a pointed nose. My cat brought one in which was playing dead, I held it for a while and it suddenly ran down my leg and ran for the open door. Last seen disappearing down a hole under the patio. johnstox
