PP'ed photo's won't show

If I photoshop my photo's on my 40D's card(sandisk) and save the pics to the card I can't view the pics on the camera, it say's "can't view photo".
Why is this and can I change this?

You can only view the originals (or photos that are the same format as the originals, including size and compression method, as well as file name and directory structure) in camera.

From my understanding, they're sort of like 'two different kinds of' .jpg files. I'm not sure how exactly that is, however, as I haven't really looked into it.
Edit: I should note that I may be completely wrong.

On my 350D I had the same problem until I renamed them the exact same way the camera does. I used "IMG_1234" (I think). I haven't done it with the 40D though.
