After a week of bright, clear, sunny conditions, the weather finally broke around lunchtime today. The clouds rolled in, and the air became heavy with moisture.

And then my lovely, shiny new SX1IS arrived.

I've taken a few pictures with it and put it onto my flickr site, at

TBH, I'd prefer to see pictures from it in decent conditions, but this is what I've been able to get.

The zoom range is amazing. The image stabilisation is unbelievably good - I've got sharp pictures at 1/15s at the equivalent of a 560mm zoom. The camera feels good in the hand too - I don't know whether the case is plastic or metal but it feels like the latter.

I can certainly see some flaws in the pictures, but I can see lots of potential in it too. Last time I bought a camera in winter, I said I'd never do that again... The conditions make it hard to be too certain one way or another

regards,
/alan

Nice shots!

Certainly hear you on the 'buying a camera in winter' no-no... I'm in the same boat. (As I type this, it's actually snowing. Grr.)

nice shots indeed.
4 fps sounds awesome, can you confirm the sx1 gets 4 fps continuous?
also, can you confirm whether the power adapter is still the same? i think it was 4.3volts, but i don't remember off the top of my head.

The zoom is quite impressive. I've been very curious as to how this offering will shake out and these certainly keep optimism alive, especially considering the conditions. Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
Jeff
