Sensor Cleaning

OK- I am VERY unlucky with DIY stuff, but the sensor on my 30D has gotten something oily on it, and it unusable. I was going to send it in to Canon, butr this was going to cost me over $100, at least. On the otherhand, I can get an kit with Eclipse E2 fluid, pec pads and swabs for $39. I have 3 DSLRs, so it wont go astray. So, question-

Do you have positive experiences with the Pec Pad/Swab/Eclipse E2 system when cleaning a sensor?

If not, what happened?

I haven't used it, but can say that the lenspen "sensorklear" is great!

I have not had any problems with the pec pad/swab/eclipse E/E2 with any of my cameras.

The sensor on my old 5D was pretty dirty, and it cleaned up nicely with the Copperhill cleaning method. It took a few times though, and I don't think it had anything "oily" on it.

For me it is difficult to clean my 40D sensor - it seems the E2 swabs are just a tad too large and they drag on the sides of the interior around the sensor - and - the solution leaves streaks (with one drop or two it doesn't matter).

In the begining, I tried a number of different ways to clean the sensor/filter. None but the Cooperhill method has worked for me. And this method has ALWAYS done the job - sometimes it takes a couple of attempts, but it always works for me.

Because of all the hype that is/was out there, the first time was nerve wracking. Every time since then has been easy stuff. It's a lot easier to do than most people/sites would have you believe - as long as you take your time and don't rush things.

As for the streaks that have been mentioned, I just get another PecPad, and "polish" the sensor/filter with it dry - very gently. I know it's clean of dust bunnies/grit so I don't have a concern, just need to wipe the streak away. Works for me.
