I'm looking into purchasing a wireless remote from Amazon. I would really prefer to use them as I am also ordering a few more items at the same time. I'm looking at either the Adorama or Opteka wireless remotes, but as this is the first time in foraying into remotes, I'd like some advice. I have a 40D, and I'm wanting the option of opening the shutter for several minute long exposures, along with being able to take group shots with me in it!

Why not the Canon RC1? That's the only one I plan to get.

I don't believe the RC1 will work with the XXD line.

I have a Phottix Mega Cleon and it works great. Love it.

I have a Phottix, and love it. Easy to use, cheap, what more can you ask for.

The RC-1 won't work. The 40D doesn't have an IR receiver.

Here's a thread about RF transmitters.

I know you want to order from one place, but the one I bought was really inexpensive, including shipping, and I had it fast.

Wow, good thing you guys let me know. I was going to buy it this week but plan to upgrade to a 40D soon. The RC1 would have gone to waste.

Funny, one reason I went with the Yongnuo YN-128 is because its transmitter looks smaller and easier to palm when taking self portraits.

Thanks for all the responses! I do believe that I will probably get the Phottix, as the consensus for not only this thread but many others states that it is decent.

Back when the Canon 20D was the current product, there was a lot of activity with Adidt radio remotes and wired remotes on eBay. The radio unit had 100m range. Then more recently the vanished even from the web. Now they seem to have 'gone legit' with a web site!
