Did somebody tell you this or did you read it someplace because that is not correct. The lens adaptor is long enough to keep the zoom lens from touching any filter or conversion lens attached to it.

I had a G3 sold bought a G6 but I had both Canon's own 58mm adaptor and had lensmates 52mm adaptors and there was no problems at all with any filters.I used a polarizing and uv stack alot of the time and had all kinds of other filters I used time to time. Also with adators you can get the telaphoto and wide-angle lenses for your G.Happy shooting

Gee Leo I was told by a Canon representative that I couldn't use it as well as a representative from B & H Photo. The rep from B& H said that Canon changed the specs for the adaptor for the G6 so that it would work. Do you or anyone know another adaptor that it would work???

Looks like Lensmate is still selling the adapter for the G3:

Still trying to figure out what you mean. The adapter itself either for the G6 LA-DC58D or the G3/G5 LA-DC58B (or the lensmate) are 58 mm threaded adapters that allows free movement of the zoom within the follow barrell of the tube. To this adapter you could affix any 58mm filter or lens. The Canon converters WC/TC -dc58N are not threaded and will not accomidate filters.

The G6 does use a different adaptor than the G3.Both G6 and G3 have 58mm threads on the end of it's adaptors from Canon. You can get 52mm and the same 58mm adaptors through lensmate. They have better prices than Canon and they are usually very fast in shipping. The Canon adaptor is a LA-DC58B.It is the 58mm threaded end,I would say if you go with Canon or Lensmate atleast get a 58mm as it lets you use the TC-D58N tele converter and also the WC-DC58N wide converter lens from Canon.I have both the extra lenses and used them on my G3 and now use them on my G6.But I had to get new adaptors as they changed the bayonet style on the G6 so I could no longer use my adaptors.Canon also extremely jacked the price of the adaptors for the G6.I got 2-58mm and a 52mm adaptor for my G6 from lensmate for the price of one of Canons.Hope maybe this clears up for you a little.Someone is not understanding you or are not sure about your Camera.
