Hello, I need some help on choosing lenses!

I currently wanted a nice wide angle lens for landscape etc.. It will be my first actual wide angle lens, so I went to the photography store, and I am choosing between the Canon 10-22mm, or the Sigma 10-20mm.

What lens produces sharper images, and overall better quality between the two? I quite like the Canon preferably, but the Sigma is a bit cheaper.

Also.. I have been calling around for used lenses, and one store has the Sigma 120-400mm lens. The man who owned it only had it for 6 weeks, so it is in good shape.

How good is this telephoto lens?? it is worth the money (it is $799), and how great is the quality, colour, and sharpness?

Thanks in advance! :D

Every time someone tells me how sharp my photos are, I assume that it isn't a very interesting photograph. If it were, they would have more to say. ~Author Unknown

Have you checked the lens sample archives for both those lenses?

You owe it to yourself to check out the Tokina 12-24 F 4.0 lens. It's received some great reviews and is several hundred dollars cheaper than the very fine Canon 10-22mm.

I love my Sigma 10-20.

I would be a bit apprehensive about buying the telephoto that someone only had for 6 weeks...makes you wonder why he got rid of it so soon...

How about Tokina 10-16? Someone says just use canon lens for canon camera. It does make sense from the point that the canon lenses are specifically made and tuned for the canon cameras.

This question's coming up a lot today! I have the Canon 10-22. Excellent lens. It's not an L, but it's probably as close as you can get without having a red ring on it. Distortion is obvious at the wide end (duh), it's fairly quick focusing and decent in low light conditions despite its modest speed. Build quality is good, but again, not L level. I haven't heard of anyone being disappointed with this lens.
