Got my 5D Mk II body a few days ago. I am tempted to pick up the 50mm 1.4 to play with as it's light and I hope to have fun walking around with this combo. If you've got the same combo please chime in I would love to hear more.

yeah its a freakin awesome combo. The 50 f/1.4 is well worth the mulah. Much better than the 1.8 and much more value/dollar compared to the 1.2.

i'm going to be using it when I pick up my 5dII next year... I know the lens is awesome n my EOS3 so I'm thinking it'll be awesome on a 5D II as well.

Anyone care to post some images from this combo? I'd be interested in seeing the results?

Chris

5D Mark II + 50mm f/1.2L is also a fantastic combo -- it's what I have on all the time these days...

I was hoping no one would mention 1.2L. I don't want to be tempted  but from all the reviews I read that the 1.4 has the least amount of CA out of the two 50mm lens. For my sanity, let's stick with 1.4 and perhaps some samples from people who've tried this combo.

Also looking to try the experience - still waiting for Canon service to return mine, I too have dead USM, but under warranty. However so love this lens and I'm sure it will be amazing on this camera...

well last night i got a chance to try out my cousin's 5dmk2 with the 50L on it and the shots were just amazing. It was my first time getting my hands on the mark 2......so very very impressed with the camera.

I too am curious about this combo. I find most of the photos from my 1.8 to be soft on the 5D2 and I'm planning on picking up the 1.4 or 1.2 soon as I don't have any quality primes.

Any more user experience to share? I would also like to know if 5D's higher resolution becomes an advantage or disadvantage with the 50mm 1.4.

I'll sell you mine .. on a 40D the 50 1.4 AF is pretty slow on moving objects, I'd imagine the same (or worse) on a 5D.
