hpulley Goldmember 4,390 posts Joined Oct 2009 More info | The 1D Classic does 1/16000 and flash sync normally of 1/500 but can really sync at any speed but that's because it was CCD, not CMOS and CCD has some real advantages in this area. Less in others which is why it has mostly lost out to CMOS. flickr

Cloth horizontal shutters just couldn't move fast enough, too far to go, single piece to move. Modern vertical shutters from the 1V on are marvels, though they don't seem that way when they break.
