hows that 270ex for you? i was thinking about getting for my first lens or dishing out for the 430... tough tough decisions.... or even getting a 3rd party but im not really into that kinda stuff =(

The flash is quite impressive, for being completely featureless. The camera menu options offer some configurations though.

Its certainly no 4XX or 5xxx series, but its small, has a tilt up head for ceiling bounce and throws impressive light for it's size. Its in the 139$ range on newegg.com

With that said, I will be buying a 4XX series pretty soon for the more advanced features. This one is perfect to keep in your cam bag when you need to pack light, and is much brighter than the onboard flash that the 7D has. It's worth it to have, even if you have a 4xx or 5xx.

Well not quite scratched, sanded it all down.

One thing I've noticed recently is it get's a fair bit colder than the painted metal.

that's just wrong.

I had my 1D/24-70 on a Manfrotto mini table tripod taking pictures of water coming out of the faucet and it suddenly went slamming front-element first into the sink. Luckily the lens barrel took the hit (no damage at all, not even cosmetic) and the water wasn't running. Still, very scary :(
