Yep. Canon + Kenko. I own the Kenkos, only. They are optically identical to the Canons. :P

Holy schnicks! What is the story behind that?

I don't quite remember the exact story but I remember it was something I read on Sportsshooter a few years back and I couldn't believe the pic so I saved it haha. I think it was at a football game and the photog got hit head on by someone trying to catch the ball. That's like a freight train smashing into you! Scott Kelby got lucky that all he broke was a monopod!

That one belonged to Chuck, he tried changing the lens and forgot to press the lens release button.

That was priceless! Good joke ;)

This is true, I agree with you completely. I was just making reference to the question about the body construction. Nothing is impervious to damage :D Except Wolverine, and Chuck Norris.

Sorry for being a n00b, but what do all of those extenders do? What's the point?

Extension tubes merely "stretch" your focal length for a given lens -- there is no optical glass in them, just an electronic connection that allows the focus and aperture functions to operate, although there is some light loss to deal with. They are used frequently with Macro photography and with other lenses that you want to get closer to your subjects with.

Teleconverters are different -- there is added glass to "magnify" your subjects more without needing to get closer to them. They are used a lot with long telephoto lenses to extend the "reach" for distant subjects, although they can be used closer. The "hit" from using teleconverters is that they require a narrower "maximum aperture" -- if your lens is, say, an f/2.8 lens then with a 1.4x Teleconverter you are stopped down to an f/4 maximum aperture and with a 2x Teleconverter you are down to a max of f/5.6 at full zoom. That will work with the AF systems of all our DSLRs, but for lenses that have or zoom to a max of f/5.6 then a 1.4 TC will lose the AF for any cameras other than the 1D series which can focus at f/8. The same can be said about a 2x TC on an f/4 lens.
