Even the 60D is an advanced place to start... Wonder how long he used it before he decided it was too small... a battery grip would have been a better investment than a 5DII... Mike

His son must love him, although if I was him I'd be a bit embarrassed that my dad was one of those "all the gear, no idea" sort of people. My god, you are rude. If he has the money to spend on nice gear, who the hell are you to tell him he can't? It won't make him a better photographer, but it's his money to do what he will with. Flickr

I never said can't, I said shouldn't. Sure he can do whatever the hell he wants, he can buy a H4D if he really wants, it won't make him less of an idiot.

I had no idea about photography (still to this day :lol and got a 7d it's no 5dII but most the stuff is the same. It really dosnt matter what gear you have as long as you are going to take the time an learn it.Because you don't know if you'll stick with photography, it's a huge investment to get started in hobby. Like I said if he wants to potentially waste all that money then so be it, that doesn't stop it from being a stupid purchase. I'm not the only one thinking this either, I'm just being picked out for being blunt about it.
