Because you don't know if you'll stick with photography, it's a huge investment to get started in hobby. Like I said if he wants to potentially waste all that money then so be it, that doesn't stop it from being a stupid purchase. I'm not the only one thinking this either, I'm just being picked out for being blunt about it.

It's nothing to get all people's feathers ruffled about. I see what your saying and it does make a good point.

Congrats it's a great camera!

Hey folks, I don't recall moltengold asking for advice, opinions, or especially criticisms about him and his choice in camera gear. Once those kinds of comments started getting made this thread got off topic and I'd suggest things getting back on-topic!

I wouldn't worry Kevin, you've got a pretty killer lineup for a 17 year old :D

I used to shoot with the Hassy H1, great film camera but I couldn't afford the digital back so I sold it off back in '05

I've try shooting medium format (not mine, my school) before and it is a whole new level, If I'm not mistaken it has Leaf digital back which cost $$$$. But it still way long road to go..:(

congrats moltengold!

i'm learning with the 5d2 myself, it's a good camera to start with :)

those are the two zooms i'm wishing for as well :)
now wait til you get the L prime bug for your 5D2. but use your zooms first, and see what focal length you use the most.

I've always want it, but I've no money for that, maybe I'll just try for Fuji X100, I have heard good things about that.:D

It's lovely. The solid metal and weight is nice to hold. :)
