The tripod looks like a Gitzo LOL

But Gitzo is known to have more than one model available ;)

What tripod and ball head is that?

That’s a Acratech GV2 ballhead on top of Gitzo 3531s legs. It's a wonderful combo that I fully swear by.

I would swear by a $1000 tripod/head combo also... without even owning it...

Todd that setup with your phone intrigues me!

This is a new addition for me, having only been using it for the last couple of weeks. However, so far, it is pretty damn rock-solid. The phone pictured in the shot is my normal "real" phone, but in reality I actually use an older 3GS iPhone that has a cracked screen. I got a really good deal on it and since I only really use it for controlling things, it allows me to use it, while keeping my real phone on me instead.

The DSLRbot app works really well. It's one of the few ways to actually do more than three brackets for HDR. You can do up to 20. I also use it for my time-lapse stuff that I am getting more and more into lately.

Beyond that, I've always been a more manual kind of guy (I rarely shoot in M at night) as I prefer to work in Bulb mode and manually open and close the shutter when I want - usually by counting. This allows for far better accuracy, since sometimes you can get the exposure you want with 13 seconds, not 10 or 15. Bulb allows you to get exactly what you want. However, with this new setup, I can dial in 13 seconds and then walk away. It will take care of all of the counting for me! Yeaaaah!

Anyways, for the whole phone setup, it cost me less than $50 including the phone. You can't beat that. ;)

Thats damn awesome! I have an iphone 4 as my regular phone but my retired iphone 3g is about to get some new use! This will make life much easier and the up to 20 brackets option is brilliant! Now i need to hurry up and get my tripod which is coming in the next two weeks: Gitzo 3541LS :D
