I feel that the focus (minus the ECF) and the meter is very similar to the 30V (ELAN 7). I bought the XS because I wasn't sure if I would like the transition to digital. So far, I really enjoy it, and am very pleased with the way the camera performs with decent glass on it. Eventually I will upgrade, but for now it is working just fine for me.
