Does anyone know how much the metadata add to the file size, even if it's only just the EXIF data the camera adds?

I just used BreezeBrowser to copy the straight-from-camera EXIF data from one image to another that'd had it stripped. The file size went from 172,117 bytes to 199,966 bytes.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Personally for me the best app for creating avatars - Video Avatar. This tool creates gif (video avatar) from video file.

I am so glad that I came across this here little tutorial page. I am going to save this for later use. I couldn't get my avatar small enough to be accepted on here, and with your help, I am now up and running. Thanks!!!

Thanks for all your help, I had lots of trouble trying to get an image under 8K. However I tried the 'save for web' function in PS and it worked wonderfully.
Thanks again.

Your tutorial is great, I have just used it to create my Avatar 5 years after you wrote it.

Thanks.

Hi, I am new in here and frankly I am not a photographer or trying to be a photographer. So, what am I doing here.?
My kids are very active and will always find excuse to join every school activities, events and programs. Taking pictures has always been necessary since their father works overseas. But sad to say my photography skill is such a disappointment. I just want to learn somethings from you guys.

This is a pretty professional setting just for your random photography stuff, Joey. I'm sure you could learn some stuff, but it's pretty high level. It also tends to be a lot of tech talk. I only process about half of it myself, and that's because my dad is a Canon freak. Are you willing to take photographs of sports events?

Maybe because it's linked directly from the Image Posting FAQ, which, among other places, is linked in my sig?

Not that I know of, but shouldn't be procedurally too different from the older versions of PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro -

  1. Crop as desired
  2. Resize to 80 pixels on the longest dimension (preserving aspect ratio)
  3. Sharpen if necessary
  4. Save as JPEG (without EXIF data) at whatever compression you need to get the resultant file below 8 KB; or save as .GIF
