Hi, I have this photo that I have messed around with but don't have the experience to make it look like it should, and I really want to use it for my christmas cards, it's a wonderful picture but needs some work.

Is anyone willing to help out? I'd like to see what you guys could come up with, and it will be featured in all 105 christmas cards!!

Merry Christmas!!

Oh Lord, my margins!

No one will be able to critique a photo of that size.

The main problem is too many colours of light in the frame... it looks like a tungsten household lamp was on to the left of frame and is causing the orange cast -- and then you have window ? light to the right... and the two don't mix -- that is why you have the weird orange cast going from left to right.

I took a whack at it but with some masking and such you could do better.

I like it the way it is. The difference in lighting doesn't hurt the photo. It looks like it was taken in a real house not a studio. In my house the lighting is not uniform in intensity or color.

I like the pose of the dogs. They look well behaved. The focus is right and they stand out from the tree. Us "professional critiquers" will find lots of things to fix but it's a great photo and I'd use it as is. Now let us see the humans who are supposed to be in the picture.

Just to put my thumbprint on it if I had to change something, I would reshoot and fix the wrinkled cloth in front of the dog.

I just love your dogs sitting there by the tree so thought I'd give it shot.

Thanks to each of you for helping me out, it is greatly appreciated!!

They are great subjects, I spend a lot of time photographing them! The one on the left is a retired AKC Champion, the one next to her is her grand-daughter, they are natural models when the camera comes out!! :)

I didn't do anything too special, wasn't exactly sure what you wanted out of it, I just balanced the colors and adjusted the levels mostly. I also made the reds a bit richer.

I think that's a bit on the cold side but you get the idea.

I just color balanced the red and green channels and applied a desaturation mask to the left side of the photo. Slight sharpening on the two gorgeous ladies. This photo would have been really nice if the tree was in better focus.
