Just installed the trial of CS4 on my G5.

Something strange happening: My video card isn't recognised?
So I cannot use OpenGL. In CS3, the card is recognised...

This is CS3:

System:
Power Mac G5, 2x2GHz, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, Mac OS X 10.4.11

Any ideas? Older version of OpenGL perhaps?

Dosent open gl require 64bit? I may be way of track...understanding computers is not my thing!

Shouldn't make a difference. I was running Open GL games back in the Pentium days...

Did the driver update again (to make sure). No difference...

Strange thing is that CS3 sees the card, and OpenGL engine, and CS4 doesn't even name the card...

It must be something about CS4's support for OpenGL on that card. As you know, Adobe has a nice history of dropping support for older "things". You might have a look here (external link) for one person's comments about its performance.

Edit: Seems that Shader Model 3 (external link) needs to be part of your vid card's ROM. Perhaps the 9600 does not have this?

your card doesn't have enough video RAM to support the advanced drawing functions. We require 512 MB RAM for Advanced Drawing to be enabled.

:(

Tried the "AllowOldGPUs.plugin" mentioned here (external link). No luck.

That can't be. I have a 256 mb 8600GT and CS4 supports OpenGL with it.

Well, it's either not enough memory (In other threads on the adobe forum 256Mb is mentioned as minimum), or the lack of Shader Model 3 (I think my card has v2).
