Hi, I just bought the Opus M40 photoelectric umbrella flash Kit. Having some bad luck though. It works by detecting my flash but I seem to get more light from my flash when I turn the Opus off.

Every picture is extremely dark (not necessarily underexposed....just dark) I tried different heights, distances & angles. I did get one good, well lit shot but I can't reproduce it.

I did notice that the flash is 1/1000 so I tried many different shutter speeds.

Any ideas out there?

Okay, so I gave up on that. I upgraded to the Opus H150 light head. Same problem though.....dark images. I figured out though that if I increase my flash exposure, it works alot better.

Still not happy with it though. If I put the umbrella right next to my model, it SHOULD blow them out.......it doesn't.

What flash are you using to trigger the H150?

The ETTL pre-flash is causing the H150 to fire prematurely. Set the 430EX to manual and try it again. Might take a little playing around with to get it just right.

You rock my friend. That did the trick. Tried it once and totally washed out my subject. No I just have to play with positioning and power output. I didn't think my pre flash was working.

Thanks a ton.
