Jeez I hope this doesn't get deleted too, I am a mod on an even larger board so I get it if it does.

I bought a lens here on the board and was scammed. PayPal didn't care, since it wasn't thought ebay.

It was a transfer from my bank account. Internationally.

My bank granted the dispute or whatever its called. I got my full 890 I paid to the scammer. Now paypal wants 890. I guess my bank nailed them.

I am freaking out.

Why they are coming after me and not the scammer I have no clue.

And no, I talked to PayPal and they do not care. I am the evil seed in their eyes.

Anyone been through this?

It is NOT a good time to close my bank account since I have monthy stuff that goes through around the 20th or so, PLUS, I have worked my ass off to rebuild my credit.

I am just about done with taking pictures. Since every scam I get tricked on is about pictures. I can't even pick up my cameras anymore. I lost my job 10 days ago and cannot even deal with this money stuff :(

Who was it ? I wouldn't deal with anyone with a few posts and wants me to transfer money to another country. Your best bet is to keep bugging your bank to revert the transaction and then have PayPal deal with the bank.

EDIT: Looks like I didn't read it clearly. In that case, just close your paypal account I guess.

Thank you. That is totally not the situation, it was a member with lots of posts and he was international. Longevity means nothing on these boards. My bank is now out of it. PayPal is going after ME. For doing the chargeback/Dispute or whatever its called. But thank you for taking the time to write :)

Again, thanks. I am looking for someone with PP experience. You cannot close a PayPal account when you have a negative balance. No matter if you are the victim or not. PayPal does not care. But thank you :)

I think the best way to solve this problem is by calling Paypal directly and talk to one of their reps. I had some good experience talking with PP when I needed their support setting up some stuff online, but that was a couple years back. Never really have any conflicts or disputes involving PP thankfully. I am sure someone here have dealt with PP for something similar. Perhaps they can shred some light in this.

doesnt paypal offer buyer protection when you pay from your bank account? Dont they tell you that every time you try to pay with a credit card?

What was the item, how were you scammed, who was the seller, maybe someone can help?

That must be a big board

You don't say where you are located, but regardless of that I recommend that you get real i.e qualified legal advice.

i sold 3 iphone on ebays, a buyer tried to get his money back after receving the item (and even left me positive feedback on ebay). i provided all the shipping details etc...
guess what? he did success.
then, paypal decided that i was a kind-of-scammer seller. they reversed all of my transactions and left me a negative balance of around 700. i had more than 1k in my account so the lost came up to ~1k8.

called them, emailed them, no result.

i finally close my bank account, ignore paypal debt collector, why i do that? check your PM :D
