Congrats Tareq.

Now, would you mind telling us all what you do for a living that enables you to finance your photography hobby so well? Dude, your gear is insane!

Thank you very much!

I am a civil engineer, and my income is low, i feel so sad about it, but i try very hard to save every month, but here in my country people saving for 1 of 3 or for all: House, Wife, Car, so i have the 3 so far because my dad paid for the 3, so i don't have anything else to spend or pay for, only bills and my family [wife and children] so all the rest or say around 60-80% of the rest i spend on gear, i feel i am slow in getting gear, as i see many here or in many websites buying new gear everytime it is released, so i don't know how people telling me that i have a lot or i have money while i am still can't get as much as others have, i have only 9 cameras so far and maybe 15 or 16 lenses, i see some with 20 cameras and around 40 lenses, so how did they do that then? are they all rich? i am not rich, otherwise i will have 3 times of what i have now.

I would highly recommend a 500 C/M and besides an 80mm CF I would pick up a 50mm FLE CF and one of the truly great Zeiss lenses the 180 CF...

I wish I still had my 500 C/Ms or at least one of them.

I see, ok, thanks for that recommendation.

Now if you have to choose between H3D and 500CM, what you will choose?

i would choose a 500C/M system with a digital back. ;)

i love the 6x6 medium format.

one new medium format camera that interests me greatly is the upcoming Bessa III folder that can switch from 6x6 to 6x7.

Well Tareq, I believe you are very mistaken.

Sure, there are a number of very well healed folks here who love to get the latest and greatest as soon as it hits the street, but I really don't think this represents the majority of people on POTN who don't have the substantial discretionary cash to play with like you do. And that is no criticism of you - you just live in an extremely fortunate situation. It's very rare where I live to have parents pay for a home, car and wife.

It took me YEARS to accumulate the gear I have. And I don't collect. I buy what is useful and will serve my clients. If business is good, I try to treat myself to one nice new purchase/year.

So don't let these extensive equipment lists fool you. Experience, knowledge and portfolio will always trump piles of gear ;). You are too easily impressed by other people's possessions and get distracted by things that are not that important. You ONLY have 9 cameras and 15 lenses???? With age and more maturity Tareq you will one day see that these are only "things".

Sorry for the rant Tareq.... and nothing personal; you just live in a bubble that is not typical of most of POTN's members.

Sorry for that but my mistake is that i didn't mention that i mean people on the net in general and not POTN, i am into more than 60 photography websites and forums so i can see many places, Luminous Landscapes itself you will see many with Medium formats and large formats that can be equal to 20 Canon or Nikon DSLRs, so i didn't mean POTN but i mean in general on the net, and also i was hidden meaning that maybe someone has a camera that cost equivalent to 5 or 10 cheaper cameras [H3D, P45+, P65+,....], so don't take my words wrong.
Also i agree with you about gear, i don't care much about gear, i buy more and more not for learning or getting better photos, but as i said before it is just fun and desire satisfaction and say collecting addiction, if it doesn't work with you fine, you are lucky and i really want to stop it as all knows it will not do for my skills or talent that much, and i don't go to buy new equipments just the first time it is in the markets, i bought H3D just on Jan2009, i got my 1DsIII on last Sept 2008 and i see many got it maybe on Dec 2007 or Jan 2008 [on the net not necessary here], i didn't get 5D MarkII, i didn't get D3X which i feel from many articles and reviews it is the best DSLR in the market now, so i am also not after always new to buy it as soon as possible, also i don't sell any of my gear from some reasons, otherwise i will have only 1 or 2 cameras with few lenses, but all or almost 98% i use it in many situations and cameras can help me as well [Backups, 2 fast for sports, 2 FF in travel so if one didn't work or error i have a backup,....], so maybe people here think i am a big collector or showoff, but really what i have right now is not a big deal and it will not stop me to be more skillful and learn always and get great photos, so i hope people to misunderstanding me that i just care about gear i don't look to grow my skill and talent and creativity itself, but in all cases i hope to keep a good friendship relationship here with all of you regardless of what i have [more or less], and i am sure after 10 years my work will talk and show itself and not my gear.

WOW, great news, i hope it is real and i can't believe it.

the price of H3DII-50 kit in our local store is now about $22500, this is valid from 30th March until 30 April.

WOW, i never expected the price is going down this fast, now i got my H3DII-39 about $20760, so i can upgrade to 50 with only about $1760, should i do that?

The previous price of 50mp kit before that offer was $25000, so not sure after this offer if it will go back to $25000 or more, but if it is $22500 now in this period, i feel i am very lucky person, i will go and return back my 39mp and add a little and get 50mp, WOW, is that real.

Is it worth to upgrade to 50mp?

Tareq, most people can't afford to care about cameras that cost over $10,000 and the lack of participation in your thread is a hint for that. The majority of your threads involve you spending money on high priced professional gear and some may find it tiring and unconstructive. Not only that but this isn't even the gear section.

Take the hint.

Tareq, as I have indicated in another thread exchange with you, most of us on POTN do not have as well-monied an existence as your own lifestyle seems to afford. Yes, you might not have the same lifestyle as your friends or neighbors have, but YOURS is considerably better blessed than most of us. I could not even THINK about spending $2600 on a 5DII, for example, as a hobbyist -- much less a $20k camera -- unless I was still shooting professionally and could take that as a business write-off, that would be a different story, but NOT as an 'enthusiast'. Your situation, from our perspective, is a 'blessed' one that many of us would love to have, but we don't. It would serve you well to keep that lesser perspective in mind...after all, there are POTN people who scarcely have $500 for a new lens, much less $20k for a camera.
