Alright, I'm willing to show my lack of knowledge here.

Why could you not put a 300 f/2.8 on my Ds3 and do some serious overlap with numerous images and do a merge to panorama?
Could/would that technique produce "pixel packing" on par with a MF or LF camera?

It would require some planning to maintain DOF, doable in PS utilizing gradients.
So why could it not be done?

Wilt, Wilt, Wilt...... I get the math of it, no problem.

I'm just suggesting that since these 'blad files are so durn HUGE to begin with relative to what the rest of us use, in the real world would most of us be able to discern the difference on Tareq's billboard at viewing distance? At my age with my eyes I probably couldn't .

But - I'll see you and raise 'ya 50, for a bid of $2150.

Stu,
Are you starting to become stupid, forgetting all you knew about shooting film! ;)

Don't forget that Medium Format puts about (...the aspect ratio is different!) the same framed scene into a larger frame, so that you can enlarge to the same magnification factor.......

I will up the bid for Tareq's H3D to $2100, plus shipping and plus Paypal fee. ;)

It could be done, but NOTHING in the scene would be moving in order to achieve a perfect match. If even ONE thing moves between exposures, you either have opportunity for mismatch at the edges when the object is along the edge, or the chance that some item appears in both halves of the joined image!

My posting in response to that earlier post was actually aimed at the other readers of the forum! The jibe was aimed at you.

Sounds like Tareq has some opportunities to make real use of the size potential of images at very huge sizes, unlike most of us! For the clients I had, I only once had a 24x30 print made up at the request of the bride and groom, for a very large wall in their very large house. The only other large prints were double-page panoramic spreads in wedding albums.

But, yeah, can you imagine only being able to store 10,000 photos per 500GB drive?! Some guys would be filling up 2-3 500GB drives per year!

How many people walking around in NY in streets using Hasselblad?

Before one considers doing that, I would check the crime statistics. You would appear ripe for a mugging.

Just be aware of your surroundings and those around you, use good common sense, don't be rude to people who obviously don't want their picture taken, try not to walk around alone....

Aha, good advice, it is difficult for me then, as i will be alone most of the time even i will go with a friend, but my friend will not be with me all the day as well.
Not sure yet if i will take my hassy as i have only one lens, if i will get another wide lens then i may consider it, but my Canon cameras are perfect for the job of travel, and the HSLBLD will take more weight in my bag.

I would think the 5D would make an ideal travel camera for your circumstance, IMO. That and one or two lenses for the sake of compact/lightweight.

Anytime I due the urban thing or even hiking, I take the 5D + 24-105 and one other compact lens. Even though I enjoy taking pictures, I'm "there" to enjoy the place and have a good time. It can be hard to do that if you're being distracted by cumbersome gear bags, making sure it doesn't bump something or get ripped off, where to set it down safely.....

I prefer travelling as light as possible to have the best time possible :D. But that's just what works for me.

Now you are telling me all that after i traveled 4 times so far for photography with bunch of tools? I never travel less than 2 cameras and at least or minimum 5 lenses.

Sometimes I want to enjoy my trip as an experience. Sometimes my trip is a photographic experience. For the former, I might carry a P&S or (in the past) an Olympus OM kit which is half the weight and almost half the bulk of full bodied cameras like the venerable Nikon F. For the latter, I have carried my Bronica medium format kit. It really depends upon why you travel!

I offer $2200 plus Paypal and shipping for the Hasselblad hammer that you are wanting to sell to finance the newer hammer. :) Your turn, Stu.
